Artwalk 2016 Location: Historic Morris Avenue
As a little girl, I always felt the need to create. From jewelry I saw at the store, to a painting I saw on TV. I would gather whatever materials I could find (or convince my Mom to purchase for me) and concoct my version of what inspired me. The end result would never look exactly like the original, or the way I envisioned it in my head. I would be showered with praise for my design and all I wanted to do was start over because I was not satisfied, thus began my life as a tortured artist. I received my BA from The University of Alabama and now live in Warrior with my husband and 3 children.
My artistic process is very instinctual. I use any materials that inspire me. In my jewelry I will use beads, chain, wire, clay, resin, paint or whatever I fancy at the moment. I will construct a piece from raw materials and a sketch, or I will use a found object that speaks to me and create a piece around it. I love color, simple shapes, and combining them in a way that makes an emotional connection with the viewer.
