Medium: Mixed Media

Artwalk 2016 Location: A.C. Legg Lofts, 2319 1st Avenue North

I am a self-taught artist and have always been a creative and imaginative person. I fell in love with palette knife oil painting when taking a course from a Sudanese artist, Osama Mohamed, in the United Arab Emirates in 2002. Thickly applying several layers of paint can create texture which can give the perception of movement and changing light. Then again, this buttery oil paint can be blended with the knife into a smooth layer of color causing different effects.

With these rich and wonderful colors of oil paint, I like to mix in different media, gold and silver foils and fabrics, all which add dimension.  I also use brushes which enable me to be more realistic when the mood hits. As you can see, I don’t have just one style of painting because I love having the freedom to try it ALL!
