Medium: Glass

Artwalk 2016 Location: Rogue Tavern Parking Lot, 2316 2nd Avenue N

Rhandie received a Bachelors Degree from UCSB in 1993 in Theatrical Lighting which is where her natural eye for color was developed and trained and which also gives her a unique perspective of how light and color react.  She has been working in glass since 1997 and opened Blue Dragon Glass in 2001.  She began with stained glass, then taught herself the art of etching and carving in glass and is now working in kiln formed glass as well.  She is always trying new things and has created some very unique pieces.  She is best know for her flying creatures, especially dragons.  She enjoys commission work that stretches her mind and abilities into places she might not have gone otherwise.  She loves a good challenge and often creates things because someone asked for it and she wanted to explore it. Her favorite quote is “People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when darkness sets in , their beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.” Elizabeth Kubler-Ross
