Lindsey Kelly is a rising young potter from Birmingham, Alabama who recently received her BFA from Auburn University. An internship at the Shelby County Arts Council in Columbiana, Alabama, is where she experienced a working community studio and found her interest in pursuing pottery as a career. Currently, Lindsey uses porcelain and stoneware, both fired to cone six. Her works are both hand built and thrown on a wheel. Most items are altered and some include screen-printed images. The pottery Lindsey makes uses a variety of sources that inspire her pieces, including daily conversations, reading articles, and the environment surrounding her. Lindsey’s works bring beauty and capture attention while blending into our lives through daily use. By experimenting with color, form, and detail, Lindsey wants to create delicate works of art, bridging between function and decoration, yet allowing the works to naturally develop. Each new project is an experiment leading to her next idea. By attempting new things in each project, her style proceeds to grow and evolve. Lindsey plans to continue making functional pottery that is aesthetically pleasing and brings joy to everyone that encounters her and her work.
