I love animals. And I love abstracts. I feel that both subjects are enhanced when they are married together. By incorporating both subjects on the same pieces enhances the art, and gives it a magical quality. It allows the viewer to experience the animal in an unexpected way.
I used acrylic paint and mediums to accomplish the abstract part of the piece. Generally it is done through a series of glazes and drips, a drying process, and then more glazes and drips. I used soft colors and metallic often to give the pieces an ethereal quality.
When the abstract is complete, I add the animal. The animal is always done in oil, as I am most comfortable in this medium. I like for the animal to have a life-like quality to it. It is like living in two worlds; the abstract world and the real world. We tend to live in both.
I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoyed making it.
