With my work at Lindsay Brook Designs, it is my goal to provide my customer with an accessory that will become either a treasured statement piece, or a classic staple that they come back to over and over. My highest priority is for the quality and uniqueness of my work to be the thing that my customers recognize and appreciate.
I strive to find fabrics that my customers will love, and I often find these at thrift shops, in the form of discarded clothing. Sourcing the fabric is one of my favorite tasks in the creative process, because the possibilities seem limitless, and it’s up to me to decide which direction I will go. From there, I salvage what I can from thrifted items, or in the case of commercially purchased yardage, I prepare the patterns and begin cutting. All of my neck ties are hand sewn, from the lining to the back seam, and I take great care to make sure that each piece is perfectly matched. Especially with the ties and bow ties, precision is one of my biggest concerns. The bow ties and hair scarves are carefully sewn in my home studio, on a sewing machine, and hand-finished with all the appropriate buttons and fittings.
My goal as an artisan is to consistently create top quality accessories that are useful, beautiful, and unique, and it gives me great joy to know that my products are filling a void in the local and global economy.
