Wood

I worked in wood as a hobby for over 25 years, making furniture and gifts for family and friends. Each piece of wood has its own personality and presence. I wanted to bring that personality out to the forefront. Frequently, people will use everyday functional items without regard to their appearance. Creating functional art brings some beauty through wood while providing a wanted service. This brings warmth to places often viewed as utilitarian and sterile. I have been working more frequently with spalted woods because of their uniqueness and beauty. That is what I try to bring with my wooden peppermills, vases, bottle stoppers, various shakers, and pens.
