Amber Orr is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. She is a graduate of The University of Montevallo, where she received a B.F.A in Drawing and a minor in Art History.
Her work deals with internal and external discovery of self. Her subject matter often herself, is an open invitation to the vulnerability of being a Christian female. Her work is a celebration of the embracing of her flaws, through spiritual growth.
For years, like many people, she was looking for peace in all the wrong places. In searching for peace in the right place, she found the need to slow down and focus on a deep and spiritual love that can be expressed and shared through her art. Her goal is to shift people from the negative to a more positive, peaceful and spiritul place. She realized that people need to feel better about themselves and to also think about humility. How to be better people through love by exchanging the struggles and negativity with love. Transitioning themselves to create this heavenly ambiance on Earth.
Each piece shares a deconstruction and reconstruction appearance. Mistakes are left to give the work a sense of vulnerability due to a less than perfected display. These errors, often manipulated through lines, shapes, colors, and textures symbolizes past struggles. Pieces dealing with spiritual growth and maturity, often have a more serene abstract and an ambiance of peace.
