Deidre Darby earned her BFA in Drawing and Design from the University of Montevallo in Spring 2022. Her work is largely inspired by feminism; She tackles different social issues on sex-based rights such as gender roles, abortion, and sexual exploitation but also creates celebratory works on lesbian relationships and the importance of female friendships. Her work is inspired by personal experiences and significant news stories. Her practice includes figures and consistent color schemes using black white and red. Red is the color of power and strong emotion so it is a recurring motif in her work.
