To create her works, she uses plants sourced from her neighborhood and family properties as well as image negatives of her own photographs. She is inspired by the way the organic plant forms interact with the architectural elements in many of her images. Much of her works are done on antique linens, book pages, and thrifted denim. The use of these items, in addition to the nature of the cyanotype, make each work its own unique piece of art. Currently, Emily is exploring the idea of physically connecting two distant places within her works, an idea that comes from her wish to be able to live and work in both Birmingham and France at the same time.
