My work is inspired by both the chaos of home life and a longing for serenity, which I find within Scandinavian architecture. I am drawn to the architectural forms, and the simplicity of the individual structures. Through my art, I am able to explore our connection to Home, and the relationship between what we are willing to show and what we work so hard to keep hidden.
My paintings contain bold/graphic elements that are tempered by delicate lines and transparent colors. This balance is a visual echo of the quiet moments carved out within the frenzy of daily life. I paint on cradled wood panels with acrylic paint and collage elements. I work intuitively, building layers and creating a rich visual history until the piece begins to take form.
