At first glance, the nostalgic and archetypal construct associated with early and mid-century art may be obvious to some, but looking further the melancholy nature of these illustrations becomes more apparent. These collected works are depictions of a child’s experiences with anxieties, fears, hopes, and youthful discoveries juxtaposed by the unconditional trust they have with us and with their environment. These ideas which have been created over the past few years have been reproduced as giclee prints and fully realized on watercolor paper and through sculpture. Accessibility of this work is important. Even still, deviations from the sublime to the distressing can still be jarring.
