Jess Lauren is from Ashville, a small town in north Alabama. She first showed a love for art at age 7. Her mother recognized her passion and enrolled her in classes starting with drawing and oils. Over the years, Jess went through all types of mediums including charcoal, acrylic and oil pastels. After graduating high school, her creativity bloomed with a career in cosmetology and makeup artistry; however, her first love remained drawing. She continued her journey with acrylic and had her first art showing in 2009 where she sold her first acrylic piece entitled Broken. Life became hectic as Jess worked in a salon and became a mother and as such, years passed without her picking up a brush. In late 2016, she returned to her love experimenting with watercolor and ink and she found the art came back very naturally. She has created many freelance pieces in this short period of time. In 2017 she illustrated a cover for an online magazine, was featured on ABC 33/40 Hometown focus with live painting, also she has continued with murals in local shops and this summer another mural is scheduled to be done at her local ballpark, while teaching art classes to children in her hometown. Teaching has been very fulfilling as she gets to share her passion with the next generation of artists. In her free time, Jess enjoys spending time with her 8 year old son and her dog traveling, hiking, enjoying the outdoors, reading, and always finding new ways to be creative.
