Kristy Chouiniere Smith (she/her) is a self-taught artist based in NW Georgia working primarily in watercolor. Whether painting landscapes or abstract works, her painting features bold, saturated color, rich texture, layered depth, and is frequently embellished with ink, metallics, and thread. Her style of painting is largely intuitive, often putting brush to paper without forethought beyond color and letting the paint inform what the painting wants to be. Kristy also works with a laser to craft custom framing elements for her work in addition to incorporating laser-cut material of her own design into the work itself. She was selected as one of 5 Emerging Artists for the 4 Bridges Arts Festival in Chattanooga, TN earlier this year and is a proud founding member of the Chattanooga-based MatriArt Collective of mother-artists.
