Laura Timares

Medium: Painting
Location: TBA

Growing up in California I was surrounded by my mother’s impressionist paintings, and my father’s Apollo Rocket and Space paraphernalia. My love of art was taken over by my love of science, and I received a PhD in Immunology from UCLA. Via Caltech and UTSW, I was recruited to Alabama in 1999 to create cancer vaccines and teach at UAB. After 20 years I retired to pursue my long-held passion for artistic expression. I greatly appreciate the mentorship of my mother, Natasha Timares, and accomplished Birmingham artists Amy Peterson and Amy Collins, who have been instrumental in my artistic growth. I have participated in workshops in Los Angeles, CA and Birmingham, AL, and my work has received recognition at Art Fairs, chosen for gallery display (Lyons Share Gallery, Fairhope AL), and requests for portrait commissions. I enjoy painting in oils, landscapes en plein air, and portraits of people and pets.
