A Birmingham native with a 35-year career in commercial advertising photography, specializing in fashion and food, I retired in 2020 seeking a more personal and hands-on creative outlet. Though I began exploring painting in the early ’90s, it was a chance encounter with a weathered sheet of copper that shifted my path toward metalwork. I now work with steel and copper using flame, heat, acids, and welding techniques—including oxy/acetylene, TIG, MIG, and plasma cutting—to craft vibrant, story-driven pieces without a drop of paint. My latest series, “Little People,” captures whimsical moments from everyday life and memory, blending humor with craftsmanship. For me, art is rooted in the joy of the process—the tools, the time, and the quiet headspace that keeps me endlessly curious and creating.
