I paint to fill homes with warmth, boldness, and beauty. In connection with many abstract expressionist painters, my work is very much an emotional response to real life. I spend my days taking life in (usually journal and camera in-hand), noticing small details (specific textures, colors, and effects of light), and translating those observations and feelings into brushstrokes on canvas. Inspired by travel, hiking, seasons, and light, my paintings shift between expression-filled abstracts and impressionistic landscapes, all aimed at bringing the outside in and breathing refreshing energy and natural beauty into people’s hectic lives.
